Due to an injury to Matthew Slater and the release of Marquice Cole, the Patriots sign Kanorris Davis off the practice squad to sure up the special teams. Davis has an opportunity to become a great special teamer in New England.

Another undrafted free agent has made it to the Patriots 53-man roster.

Safety Kanorris Davis was signed off the Patriots practice squad to the 53-man roster on Saturday. Davis, 23, joined the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Troy on May 3.

The 5-foot-10, 207-pound Davis is a big, physical safety who will play more in the box as a run stopper with an ability to hit like a Mac truck. An athletic freak, he's shown to be a workout warrior in training camp.

Davis will not cover much and probably will fill in the special team gunner role during the game against Atlanta on Sunday night since Mathew Slater looks to be out for another three weeks with a wrist injury and Marquice Cole was released earlier in the week.

During the preseason, he showed a high motor and a never-give-up attitude on the field that could help him become another elite special teamer if given the chance.

Davis was initially released by the Patriots on Aug. 31 and was re-signed to the practice squad on Sept. 1. Davis played as a linebacker in college, where he helped Troy win the Sun Belt Conference Championship in 2011 and 2012.
