Falcons sign White to 4-year extension

The Falcons will have Roddy White sticking around for just a while longer.

As training camp approaches, the Falcons have signed veteran wide receiver Roddy White to a four-year contract extension.

ESPN is reporting the deal is for $30 million. It will keep White in an Atlanta uniform through the 2018 season.

White turns 33 in November. He's the Falcons all-time leading receiver with 9436 yards and 685 receptions. He's 45th in league history with his receiving yards total.

This deal gives White a chance to be the true Falcons star that could go into the Hall of Fame in a red and black uniform. Sure, Claude Humphrey and Deion Sanders are in the NFL and played for the Falcons, but they also played elsewhere.

White has become a leader for the Falcons the last few years. Drafted in 2005, he was on the team when Matt Ryan joined Atlanta in 2008. So for the last nine seasons White has been an integral part of the Falcons offense.

White has teamed with Julio Jones to give the Falcons one of the most dangerous one-two punches at receiver in the NFL.
