Team president/general manager Rich McKay is looking forward to the Falcons' practices with the Titans Aug 5-6, and a scrimmage in Nashville Aug. 7. "Getting to practice against another team is all good. You learn more about your guys, especially young guys, when there are bullets flying," McKay said. "You've got to make sure you have the coaching staffs have a relationship where you get good work instead of hostile work [out of players]."
The Falcons will use a new schedule this year in training camp, practicing at 2 or 3 p.m. one day, at 9 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. the next, and then 2 or 3 the next and so on. Coach Jim Mora said he likes the idea, similar to a plan followed by Texans coach Dom Capers, because it allows players two meals and meetings between all practices without wearing them down.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"You have to get all your special bedding. Your bedding is everything when you're at training camp so you need to take a comforter, and a feather pillow, maybe stop by Home Depot and pick up a sheet of plywood to put under your bed so it doesn't (sag) like a hammock." - Falcons DT Travis Hall, when asked about packing for training camp.
