The Atlanta Falcons have reached a one-year contract agreement with free agent kicker Todd Peterson. His addition to the roster could spell the end to the tenure of kicker Jay Feely with the club.
Peterson kicked for San Francisco last season, but will be the place kicker for the Birds this coming season. Last season for the 49ers, Peterson converted 18 of 22 field goals. One aspect of Peterson’s decision to come to Atlanta was simply a matter of coming back home: He grew up in Valdosta and lives in Atlanta in the off-season.
The Falcons were interested in him again (Peterson was previously with the team) because they knew that his track record kicking in domes has been stellar. In his career, Peterson has kicked through 212 of his 271 field goal attempts. He is 35 and signed a one-year deal with Atlanta.
