Koenen struggles with shot

When you are trying to make an NFL football team by unseating the starter it helps to be consistent.

The only thing consistent about Michael Koenen’s performance in the American Bowl was that it was inconsistent. The Falcons decided to put Koenen on the spot by allowing him to play the whole game in place of starter Toby Gowin.

Koenen responded by kicking two of his kickoffs out of bounds and by blasting two of them too far into the end zone to be returned. In his only punt of the contest, Koenen managed only 39 yards – seven fewer yards on average than the other two punts from the Falcons.
