Wide receiver Brian Finneran was named the Atlanta Falcons' recipient of the 2008 Ed Block Courage Award.

The Ed Block Courage Award is named after the longtime trainer of the Baltimore Colts, and is awarded to the player who exemplifies the principles of courage and sportsmanship, and serves as an inspiration to his teammates.

Finneran missed the entire 2006 and 2007 seasons with torn ligaments in his left knee. In 2008, Finneran overcame his injury to play in all 17 of the Falcons' games in 2008 (including playoffs).

Finneran had 21 receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown during the Falcons' 11-5 regular season, and had 2 receptions for 11 yards in their playoff loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

2004: Roberto Garza, G
2003: Ed Jasper, DT
2002: Chris Draft, LB
2001: Shawn Jefferson, WR
