FLOWERY BRANCH - The Atlanta Falcons tendered starting right guard Harvey Dahl, a restricted free agent, at the second-round level.

The second-round tender comes with a guaranteed salary of $1.545 million dollars for 2009, and would compensate the Falcons with a 2nd round draft choice in April's draft should another team sign Dahl to an offer sheet that the Falcons decide not to match.

Dahl, 27, joined the Falcons as a free agent in 2007 after beginning his career as an undrafted free agent with the San Francisco 49ers. The 6-5, 308-pound lineman teamed with Tyson Clabo to solidify the right-side of a Falcons' offensive line that was much improved in 2008.

Signing Dahl, who earned $445,000 in 2008, to a long-term contract extension is a priority for the Falcons' front office.
