The Atlanta Falcons announced that they have have signed a five-year deal with first-round defensive tackle Peria Jerry.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but Jerry’s deal should include around $7 million in guarantees and have a maximum value of around $13 million dollars.
Jerry was chosen with the 24th overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft and is already penciled in as a starter in the middle of the Falcons’ defensive line. Known more for his athleticism than size, the 6-2, 299-pound Jerry is quick off the ball and can be disruptive force in opposing backfields.
A two-year starter at Ole Miss, Jerry made 107 tackles over the last two seasons, including 32 for a loss. He also notched 10.5 sacks during that time, earning second-team All-SEC honors as a junior and first-team All-SEC and first-team All-American honors after last season.
Jerry is the eighth and final Falcons' draft pick to sign.
