Babineaux arrested

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported Friday morning that Falcons DT Jonathan Babineaux was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and was admitted to the Gwinnett County jail at 1:01 am this morning.

The team released a short statement about the veteran's arrest this morning.

"We are aware of the situation concerning Jonathan Babineaux and are in the process of gathering information,'' the release said. "Because this is a legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time."

Babineaux is a key cog to the Falcons' defense, posting 33 tackles and five sacks and was being counted on to help Atlanta this weekend as they take on the undefeated New Orleans Saints this weekend, but his status for the game appears to be up-in-the-air at this point.
