January 7, 2006 Atlanta Falcons News and Notes.

--Tight end Alge Crumpler might not play in his third straight Pro Bowl because he requires arthroscopic knee surgery. Far more significant to Crumpler was the staggering collapse of a team that had Super Bowl aspirations just two months ago.

"We've got great character, and we were known as a team that knew how to bounce back," Crumpler said as he reflected on differences between 2004 and '05. "We get blown out at Kansas City, then we're down 14 at Denver, and we bounce back. We were a bounce-back team last year. I would assume we were a bounce-back team this year, but we didn't have a lot of those guys here that could understand that."

--If the money is right, No. 3 receiver Brian Finneran wants to return in 2006. He triggered a clause in his contract to become an unrestricted free agent after taking at least 45 percent of the offensive snaps.

"I'm going to check out all my options," said Finneran, who led Atlanta wideouts with 50 catches and 611 receiving yards. "I like it here, the family is here, I like the organization, the coaching staff, my teammates and ownership. At the same time, I have to look out for my family, so I will exercise my options."
