A week after veteran center Jeremy Newberry retired, the Atlanta Falcons have announced the signing of rookie free agent Adam Speer.

Speer (6-3, 291) was a two-year starter at guard for Oregon State, earning second-team All-Pac 10 honors following his senior season.

Speer adds depth to the interior of the Falcons' offensive line, behind guards Justin Blalock, Harvey Dahl, Ben Wilkerson, and Ryan Stanchek.
